What a wonderful travel year 2015 – long live Europe!

I hope you’re not yet bored with reading compilations of this year’s travels from other blogs? Even if last minute travel decisions are sort of my thing, on the 2nd last day of the year I guess it’s quite safe to say the travel year of 2015 has been completed from my part.

While planning my very first trip of 2016 I wanted to share with you some of the greatest travel moments from the past year. It’s time to wrap 2015 in one blog post!

Or maybe not!

As we don’t want neither writing this post nor reading it to waste every single minute we have left of this year, I decided to show you some of the greatest memories from the trips abroad. The top moments in Finland will get their very own post. This will also leave us a tiny little option of starting the car tomorrow and drive outside Rauma’s borders for New Year’s Eve; after all, you’ll never know what happens tomorrow!

Even with these pictures we don’t have to travel too far from Finland, because all of my this year’s travel destinations are located in Europe. So let’s say this post is my ode to Europe and its’ beautiful cities and other fantastic destinations that will never run out!

My year of travel started with a double trip to Tallinn, Estonia. Around Valentine’s Day we spent a weekend in the Estonian capital where I have visited countless times, but for English Daniel it was the very first trip to Tallinn, ever.

At the end of March I travelled to Tallinn again, this time thanks to Ping, an event for content producers. From Tallinn we continued into the nightlife of Helsinki, and after a few hours in the bar I caught a night bus to the airport – the next morning, tired but happy, I started my journey to Copenhagen, Denmark.

For the whole summer I was busy as a bee working in our local newspaper as a journalist. The endless weekend shifts had no mercy, but they brought many amazing experiences that I will tell you more about next year.

During the whole summer I travelled abroad only once; it was a quick comeback to Düsseldorf, Germany, where I spent half of the year 2014.

The summer party, organized by my ex employer trivago, was filled with joy of reunion, beer and familiar happy faces.

Right after the summer I experienced the most surprising but also the very most awesome press trip to Björkliden in Swedish Lapland, organized by VisitSweden. During three intense days in Björkliden we were hiking on a glacier as well as on misty mountains, flying high in a helicopter and crawling deep down on the bottom of a limestone cave.

Not to mention that during this trip I made some long lasting friendships with other Finnish bloggers. One of them I have already met several times since our September trip to Swedish Lapland (I will save you from the links as their blogs are in Finnish only).

At the start of October I spent this year’s second, and thank god the last, night at the airport in Helsinki-Vantaa. This time I caught the night bus after an after party of Travel Massive event. After a very uncomfortable night at the airport I met Daniel and my luggage and together we flew over to Vilnius, Lithuania for a weekend getaway.

Oh, lovely Vilnius. During a short weekend we experienced at least two different holidays. After the sun sets and lights go off the Lithuanian capital is like a whole new world, not to mention the city district of  Užupis.

The final destination of the year was decided on the very last minute. We had several options where to go to experience some Christmas feeling, and in the end the Swedish capital Stockholm won the contest, thanks to the weekend weather forecast (believe or not).

    1. Thanks for your comment Jesper, it really was. And now, after 4 amazing days at the Nordic Travel Fair in Helsinki, I am convinced this year will be at least twice as amazing as last year was! 🙂 Happy travels!
